Alocasia Porte (Alocasia portei) is a naturally occurring Southeast Asian Alocasia species grown for its bold, upright habit and substantial arrowhead foliage — a larger-growing member of the genus suited to collectors with room to let a specimen plant develop.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Give this larger-growing species a correspondingly larger pot over time and a sturdy base — its substantial leaves need real support as the plant matures.
Give it bright indirect light, a rich, well-draining aroid mix, and consistent warmth and humidity typical of its native rainforest understory habitat. As with most Alocasia, allow the top of the mix to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root rot.
A solid choice for growers wanting a genuine species-level Alocasia with real presence, rather than one of the smaller jewel-type cultivars.
