Rhaphidophora Lobii

Rhaphidophora Lobii was described by Schott (as Rhaphidophora lobbii) and is a lesser-known climbing species within the genus. Rhaphidophora is a genus of roughly 100 climbing aroid species ranging from tropical Africa through Malesia and the Western Pacific — the genus name comes from the Greek for "needle bearing," referring to needle-shaped calcium oxalate crystals in the tissue.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Rhaphidophora dislike sitting in soggy soil far more than they mind drying out slightly — err on the side of underwatering, and always use a well-draining mix.

Give it bright, indirect light, an airy aroid mix, and a moss pole or trellis to climb — most Rhaphidophora produce larger, more mature foliage once given vertical support. Water when the top inch of soil is dry and maintain moderate to high humidity for the best growth.
