Weco Wicked Tree is a dramatic, branchy driftwood piece with a striking gnarled, tree-like form — a real statement centerpiece for an aquascape. Its reaching branches create height and complexity in a layout, provide cover and territory boundaries for fish, and offer plenty of surface to attach moss, Anubias, and Bucephalandra for a lush, mature look.
Good to Know: Branchy "spiderwood-style" pieces like this are favorites for nature-style scapes because the branches add the vertical drama and natural structure that flat wood can't. It's ideal for creating a forest or tree effect, especially with moss attached to the branches.
Preparation: New driftwood leaches tannins that tint the water a natural tea color (harmless, and many aquascapers love the blackwater look). To reduce it, soak the wood for a few days to a couple of weeks, changing the water, before adding it. Most woods need weighting or anchoring until waterlogged enough to sink.
Each piece is natural and one-of-a-kind, so size, shape, and color vary — part of the appeal when building a unique scape.
