Seachem Tidal Zeolite
- Low stock - 2 items left
Seachem Tidal Zeolite is a naturally porous mineral that actively binds and removes ammonia (and heavy metals like copper, lead, and zinc) through ion exchange, sized to fit the Seachem Tidal media basket. It's a powerful emergency and quarantine tool: in an ammonia spike, a fry tank, or a hospital tank, zeolite can pull ammonia down fast — Seachem notes it has among the highest ammonia-binding capacities available.
A Gentle Word of Caution: Because zeolite removes the very ammonia your beneficial bacteria feed on, running it in a normal tank can interfere with cycling — it can starve and stall the biofilter you're trying to establish. It's best reserved for emergencies, quarantine, fry tanks, and transport, not as a permanent media in an established display. (It also won't work in saltwater, where it releases what it has bound.)
Good to Know: Zeolite can often be recharged by soaking in a strong salt solution, restoring much of its ammonia capacity for reuse — handy for a quarantine kit you keep on standby.
How to Use: Rinse and place in the Tidal basket in the flow path; monitor ammonia, which should fall within a day or two. Once the emergency passes, remove it (or swap it for carbon or Matrix) so your normal biofilter can take over.
