Seachem Tidal Matrix Carbon
- Low stock - 1 item left
Seachem Tidal Matrix Carbon is a premium activated carbon shaped to fit the media basket of a Seachem Tidal filter. Carbon is a chemical media: it adsorbs dissolved organic molecules, removing the compounds that cause yellow-tinted water, odors, and general impurities, leaving water visibly clearer and fresher. Seachem's carbon is a high-grade bituminous type, low in phosphate so it won't leach algae-feeding nutrients back into the tank.
Good to Know: Carbon is excellent for polishing water and for stripping out leftover medication after a treatment course β in fact, running fresh carbon is the standard way to remove meds when you're done. Unlike biological media, carbon does exhaust: once its surface fills, it stops adsorbing, so it needs periodic replacement rather than just rinsing.
A Note for Planted Tanks: Many planted-tank keepers run little or no carbon by choice, since it can pull out trace fertilizers along with the impurities. It's most useful as a targeted tool β clearing tannins, odors, or medication β rather than a permanent fixture in a fertilized aquascape.
How to Use: Place it after mechanical media in your Tidal's basket and replace roughly monthly, or when water clarity stops improving. Match the size (35 or 55) to your filter.
