Description
Seachem ParaGuard
Seachem ParaGuard is a gentle, broad-spectrum external treatment — the everyday workhorse for quarantine and for the common ailments new or stressed fish bring with them. It tackles external parasites such as ich and flukes along with external bacterial and fungal infections, all without the harsh copper or formaldehyde-only chemistry of many alternatives. That makes it a sensible "first response" when you spot trouble on a fish's skin, fins, or gills.
Good to Know: Unusually for a parasite treatment, ParaGuard contains no copper and no elevated formaldehyde, so it's relatively easy on fish — though, like nearly all medications, it's best kept away from shrimp, snails, and many live plants, which is another reason a separate quarantine tank is worth having. It's a favorite for acclimating and quarantining new arrivals before they join a display.
For a store like ours and for careful hobbyists, ParaGuard is the routine, lower-risk option for treating and quarantining fish before problems ever reach the main tank.
Dosing Guidelines: Dose per the label, typically once daily (with the tank lights dimmed, as it can be light-sensitive). Use in a quarantine/hospital tank, remove chemical filtration while treating, and keep it out of planted, shrimp, and snail tanks.
