Seachem Equilibrium is a mineral supplement that raises general hardness (GH) and is purpose-built for the planted aquarium. When you start from RO, DI, or naturally soft water, Equilibrium restores the essential minerals plants and livestock need — calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron among them — in plant-friendly ratios, without raising KH or adding phosphate or nitrogen that would skew a fertilizer routine.
Good to Know: Equilibrium handles GH; if you also need to set KH and pH, pair it with Acid and Alkaline Buffer. It's the planted-tank counterpart to a fish-focused mineral salt — because it includes potassium and iron, it actively benefits plants rather than just hardening the water. A GH of roughly 1–2.5 meq/L (about 3–7 dGH) suits most planted tanks.
For aquascapers building water from RO, it's the foundation mineral that lets demanding plants and healthy shrimp share the same tank.
Dosing Guidelines: Use about 16 g (1 tablespoon) per 80 gallons to raise GH by roughly 1 meq/L (about 3 dGH). Dissolve in a little water first, and dose with water changes to maintain your target GH. Start lighter and build up if you keep sensitive shrimp.
