Bucephalandra kedagang brown long

Bucephalandra kedagang brown long is a graceful elongated variety with long, narrow dark green to brownish leaves featuring subtle wavy edges and fine white spots distributed across the leaf surface. The leaves can develop a blue metallic sheen underwater under good lighting conditions, while the reddish rhizomes add a warm structural accent that contrasts attractively with the darker foliage.

Planting tip: Bucephalandra kedagang brown long can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.

As a kedagang-type Bucephalandra from Indonesia, brown long can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. Medium lighting and optional CO₂ supplementation help bring out the metallic blue sheen and maintain the characteristic brownish-green coloration. Like all Bucephalandra, it can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.

Kedagang brown long grows to 3 to 5 inches and prefers temperatures between 72 and 82°F with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5. Regular liquid fertilization supports the production of new, elongated leaves with the distinctive white spotting that defines this variety.

In the aquascape, Bucephalandra kedagang brown long is well suited to midground placement where its elongated leaves can sweep gracefully in the current. The long leaf form creates a flowing, dynamic quality unusual among Bucephalandra varieties, and the white spotting adds fine botanical detail. It pairs naturally with rounder-leaved Bucephalandra and compact mosses, where the elongated leaf shape provides complementary contrast.

Bucephalandra kedagang brown long is a sophisticated variety for aquarists who appreciate subtle complexity and graceful leaf form. Its multiple layers of visual interest make it endlessly rewarding to keep.
