The Aquatop Sponge Filter is an air-driven sponge filter — the gentle, reliable, shrimp-safe filtration that's a staple of shrimp tanks, fry tanks, betta tanks, and quarantine. Connected to an air pump, it pulls water through a porous sponge that traps debris (mechanical filtration) and hosts the beneficial bacteria that run your biofilter (biological filtration), with a soft flow and no intake slot to endanger small livestock. Available for 25 and 40 gallon tanks.
Great for Shrimp & Fry: Nothing small gets sucked in, and the sponge itself becomes a biofilm grazing surface that baby shrimp feed on — which is why sponge filters are the default for breeding and nano tanks. They're nearly silent, inexpensive, and extremely easy to maintain.
How to Use: Connect to an air pump (with a check valve), submerge, and run. Rinse the sponge in old tank water during water changes — never tap water, which kills the bacteria.
