The AquaTop SP7-UV is an internal aquarium filter with a built-in UV sterilizer — combining mechanical and biological filtration with an ultraviolet bulb that the water passes by, clearing up green water (free-floating algae) and reducing waterborne bacteria and parasites. It's an all-in-one solution for crystal-clear water and an extra layer of disease control in one submersible unit.
Good to Know: A UV sterilizer is the most effective fix for stubborn green water (an algae bloom that turns the tank pea-soup), and it can reduce the spread of some waterborne pathogens — a nice extra in a community or quarantine tank. One note for planted/shrimp keepers: UV is generally fine, but turn it off when dosing beneficial bacteria (like during cycling) or certain treatments, since it can neutralize them. It does not harm fish or shrimp in the tank.
How to Use: Mount it submerged inside the tank, run it continuously for water clarity, and replace the UV bulb periodically (typically yearly) as its sterilizing power fades with age. Clean the filter media in old tank water.
