API Pimafix is the antifungal counterpart to Melafix, made from the extract of West Indian Bay (Pimenta). It treats fungal infections — the cottony, wispy growths that appear on fish and eggs — as well as internal and external bacterial infections, and it's formulated not to harm the biological filter or alter pH. Because fungal and bacterial problems so often arrive together, it's commonly used alongside Melafix for broad, gentle coverage.
Good to Know: Like Melafix, Pimafix is a botanical, lower-intensity remedy best suited to early or minor infections rather than an advanced, systemic disease. The same tea-tree-family caution applies for labyrinth fish (bettas and gouramis), which can be sensitive to these oils. The Melafix + Pimafix pairing is a classic combination for treating and supporting newly added or lightly affected fish.
It earns its place as the "fungus" half of a gentle two-product first-aid kit for minor outbreaks and new-fish support.
Dosing Guidelines: Dose per the label, generally daily for about a week with a water change afterward. Remove activated carbon during treatment, and use caution with bettas and gouramis.
