API pH Test Strips are the fast, fuss-free way to check your aquarium's pH. A quick dip gives you a reading in seconds by matching the pad to the color chart — handy for a routine spot-check, for testing your source or RO water before a change, or for confirming a tank is stable. pH is a foundational parameter: different fish, plants, and shrimp prefer different levels, and stability matters more than hitting a "perfect" number.
Good to Know: Strips trade a little precision for speed and convenience — great for a quick check, while a liquid pH kit is the better tool when you need an exact figure (for example, tracking CO₂ in a planted tank). Keep the bottle tightly closed and dry between uses, since strips are sensitive to humidity, and replace once a bottle has been open a long time. This is the 25-count tube.
How to Use: Dip one strip briefly in the aquarium, remove it, and compare to the chart at the time stated on the label. Reseal the bottle promptly to keep the remaining strips accurate.
