The API pH Test Kit measures the acidity or alkalinity of your water on the low range (about 6.0–7.6). pH is a foundational parameter: different fish, plants, and shrimp thrive at different pH levels, and sudden swings are far more stressful to livestock than a steady reading at the "wrong" number. This liquid test makes it easy to confirm your tank is stable and suited to what you keep.
Accurate and very economical — good for hundreds of tests — it's the everyday pH tool, especially useful in CO₂-injected planted tanks where pH shifts through the day, and for matching your water to soft-water or hard-water species.
Good to Know: This low-range test tops out around 7.6; if your water is harder or more alkaline than that, you'll want the High Range pH test (or the Master Kit, which includes both) to get a true reading. Remember that stability matters more than hitting a "perfect" number — most fish adapt to a steady pH far better than to a moving one.
How to Use: Fill the tube to the line with tank water, add the specified drops of pH reagent, cap and invert to mix, then compare against the color card. Test as often as you like; it's especially worth checking when setting up a tank, adjusting buffers, or tuning CO₂.
