Blue Lapis Tetra
Blue Lapis Tetra
Blue Lapis Tetra (Hyphessobrycon cyanotaenia) displays vivid blue iridescence across the body — cyanotaenia means 'blue band' in Greek, reflecting the blue lateral stripe that defines this species. A striking relatively recent addition to the trade.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to rivers of Ecuador and Peru — upper Amazon tributaries with soft, slightly acidic water.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The blue lateral band is most vivid in subdued lighting. Peaceful community tetra.
A vivid blue Hyphessobrycon with genuine collector appeal.
