Bucephalandra Blue Boyan
Bucephalandra Blue Boyan
Bucephalandra Blue Boyan is a delightful miniature form with tight, wavy dark leaves that display a characteristic metallic blue shimmer, making it one of the smallest and most precisely detailed Bucephalandra varieties available. The compact, dense growth and wavy leaf texture create a plant of exceptional refinement that is perfectly scaled for nano aquascapes and detailed foreground compositions.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra Blue Boyan can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
Like all Bucephalandra from Indonesia, Blue Boyan can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This easy-care variety grows well in low to moderate lighting with optional CO₂ supplementation, adapting comfortably to temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.4. Like all Bucephalandra, Blue Boyan can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to just 1 to 2 inches, Blue Boyan is an ideal nano tank plant that can also serve as a precise foreground detail element in larger aquascapes. Regular liquid fertilization supports the tight, wavy leaf form and the metallic blue quality that defines this Boyan-type variety.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Blue Boyan is most effective in nano tanks where its miniature scale and blue shimmer create maximum impact in a small space. In larger layouts it provides exquisite foreground detail on small stones and detailed hardscape. Grouping several Blue Boyan specimens together creates a shimmering blue-metallic display that is one of the most beautiful foreground effects achievable in freshwater aquascaping.
Bucephalandra Blue Boyan is a tiny plant with an outsized visual personality. Perfect for nano tanks, detailed scapes, and collectors who appreciate precision and miniature beauty.
