Assorted Male Endlers
Assorted Male Endlers
Assorted Male Endlers (Poecilia wingei) are male Endler's Livebearers in assorted color patterns — males display the vivid electric colors that define the species. Assorted stock includes a mix of patterns and strains. Endler's Livebearers are the wild cousins of the fancy guppy — smaller, often more vividly colored in males, and with genuine conservation significance as an endangered species from a tiny corner of northeastern Venezuela.
Feeding & Care Tip: Hikari Fancy Guppy food makes an excellent daily staple — specifically formulated for small-mouthed livebearers. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp and Hikari Frozen Daphnia. For fry, Sera Micron Nature is ideal. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Poecilia wingei inhabits the Campoma and Cumana regions of the Paria Peninsula in Sucre state, northeastern Venezuela — an extremely restricted natural range. The wild population of Laguna de Patos is listed as IUCN Endangered, threatened by pollution and habitat loss. This makes well-documented aquarium strains genuinely important for conservation. The Campoma numbering system (No. 3, No. 31, No. 40, etc.) refers to specific geographic collection localities within the Campoma lagoon system — each number designates a distinct collection site with its own characteristic color pattern.
Serious Endler hobbyists use a classification system: N-class fish are pure P. wingei with documented lineage traceable to wild Venezuelan populations — the gold standard for conservation breeding. P-class fish appear to be pure Endlers but lack documentation. K-class are known hybrids with guppies. Our Campoma-numbered strains represent N-class or high-quality P-class stock maintained with careful records.
Keep at a ratio of at least 3 females per male — male Endlers are relentlessly amorous and individual females will be harassed to exhaustion without sufficient companions to share male attention. Endlers breed prolifically — fry are tiny but immediately free-swimming. Sera Micron Nature is an excellent first food for newborns.
