Scindapsus Pictus, commonly called satin pothos or silver vine, is native to Bangladesh, Borneo, India, Java, Peninsular Malaysia, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Taiwan, and Thailand. Its species name -- Latin for "painted" -- refers to the silvery-gray variegation splashed across its teal to pastel-green, heart-shaped leaves.
Care tip: Given a support to climb -- a wall, pole, or trellis -- this species will eventually "shingle," pressing its leaves flat against the surface for maximum light capture, a striking growth habit distinct from its trailing form.
As a true climbing liana, it roots along its stem at every node, gripping firmly to rough surfaces. Left to trail, it stays a manageable houseplant size; given vertical support, it grows taller and develops a different, more architectural look.
