Pilea Silver is a silver-marked Pilea selection grown in the trade under this name. Pilea is a large genus of over 600 species in the nettle family (Urticaceae), found throughout tropical regions, especially Southeast Asia, and widely grown as houseplants for their textured, often metallic-toned foliage — the well-known Aluminum Plant (Pilea cadierei) and Chinese Money Plant (Pilea peperomioides) are both members of this same genus.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Pinch growing tips regularly to keep this plant compact and encourage bushier growth — most Pilea get leggy fairly quickly if left unpinched.

Give it bright, indirect light, a peaty, well-draining, soil-based mix, and moderate watering — keep the soil lightly moist without letting it sit wet. Moderate to high humidity keeps the foliage looking its best.

Pilea remains a genuinely popular houseplant genus for good reason — easy care paired with genuinely varied, often metallic or patterned foliage across its many species and cultivars.
