Philodendron sp. Moonlight is grown in the trade under a name referencing the popular 'Moonlight' Philodendron hybrid, a self-heading (non-climbing) form known for large, elongated, lime-green leaves that soften toward green as they mature. Philodendron is a genus of over 600 species native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, where most grow as climbing or scrambling epiphytes.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Give it bright indirect light and a chunky, well-draining aroid mix — avoid deep shade, which can cause legginess and washed-out color, especially on variegated forms.

Water once the top inch or two of soil has dried, keep humidity moderate to high, and provide a moss pole or similar support if the plant shows a climbing habit — most Philodendron produce larger, more mature foliage once given something to climb.

Philodendron remains one of the most actively bred and collected aroid genera, and named selections like this one reflect the genus's huge range of leaf shapes, colors, and patterns.
