Alocasia Amazon (Alocasia × amazonica) is a horticultural hybrid between Alocasia longiloba and Alocasia sanderiana, first bred by a Florida grower whose greenhouse — Amazon Nursery — gave the plant its name. Despite the exotic-sounding name, it has no connection to the Amazon rainforest; it's been in cultivation since the 1950s and remains one of the most widely available "jewel" Alocasia, often sold as Alocasia 'Polly.'
