Adenia Cordifolia was first described by Blume and later reclassified into its current genus by Engler, native to Southeast Asia. It belongs to Adenia, a genus of around 100 species in the passionflower family (Passifloraceae), with centers of diversity in Madagascar, tropical Africa, and Southeast Asia — a genuinely varied genus that includes climbing vines, shrubs, and striking succulent, pachycaul (thick-stemmed) forms.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Give it a support to climb — as a Passifloraceae vine, this species produces tendrils and grows best when trained upward rather than left to sprawl.
Give it bright, filtered light, a well-draining mix, and consistent moisture without waterlogging. Its heart-shaped leaves (the species name "cordifolia" means exactly that) give it an appealing, easily-recognized silhouette among climbing understory vines.
