The Discus Spawning Cone is a breeding accessory that gives discus — and other cichlids and substrate-spawners like angelfish — an ideal vertical surface to lay their eggs on. Its tall, ceramic-textured cone closely mimics the natural surfaces these fish seek out in the wild, encouraging a bonded pair to spawn and giving the eggs a clean, defensible site the parents can tend.
Good to Know: Discus and angelfish prefer a vertical or steeply-angled surface for their eggs, and a dedicated cone is far easier to manage than a piece of slate or the heater — the parents fan and guard the eggs on the cone, and once the fry are free-swimming they famously feed on the parents' skin slime. The weighted base keeps it stable; place it in a quiet area of the breeding tank.
