The API Copper Test Kit measures the level of copper in aquarium water — important in two situations. If you're treating fish with a copper-based medication, this kit lets you maintain the precise therapeutic dose (too little doesn't work, too much is toxic). And if you keep invertebrates, it lets you confirm your water is copper-free, since copper is deadly to shrimp, snails, and other inverts even in tiny amounts.
Good to Know: For a shrimp or snail keeper, this kit is genuinely useful peace of mind — copper can leach in from old plumbing, certain medications, or some tap water, and inverts are extremely sensitive to it. It's also essential for anyone running copper treatments in a fish-only/quarantine tank, where holding the right concentration matters. Good for about 90 tests.
How to Use: Add the reagent drops to a tube of tank water per the instructions, wait, and match the color to the chart. Test during copper treatments to hold the dose, or to verify a tank is copper-free before adding inverts.
